I love herbs!
I always have a stash of dried herbs in my kitchen and some months ago, I started growing my own Basil plant. Something fresh is always better and if you plant it yourself, you sure know it is as organic as it can get.
I hang out the basil plant by our window and nurture it with some water and just enough sunshine. Fortunately, my basil plant is still thriving with lots of healthy leaves till now and I use them for my pasta, baked fish, soup, and recently, I tried making my own basil pesto. I used some of the basil pesto for dipping (over toasted bread) and the rest I mixed it with plain pasta and olive oil. It’s so delicious!
My Home-Made Basil Pesto Recipe:
In a blender, put 2 cup-full of basil leaves (mix some other greens like spinach if you like), add minced garlic (about 2 cloves), walnuts (or pine nuts or almonds or do without nuts), 1/2 cup of grated cheese (any cheese), 1/2 cup of olive oil, some salt and pepper. Blend together and then transfer to a container. That easy, enjoy!
